Description
A 24-hour urine microalbumin test measures the amount of albumin, a protein, in your urine over a 24-hour period. This test is often used to detect early signs of kidney damage, especially in people with diabetes or high blood pressure.
- Normal: Less than 30 milligrams of albumin in a 24-hour urine sample is generally considered normal.
- Microalbuminuria: A level between 30 and 300 milligrams indicates microalbuminuria, suggesting early kidney damage.
- Macroalbuminuria: Levels above 300 milligrams indicate more significant kidney damage.
